On December 16, 2011, U.S. Senators Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) announced that the Senate has cleared a way for the President to award the Medal of Honor posthumously to Chaplain Emil Kapaun, a Kansas war hero.
