WASHINGTON (WIBW) -- A Kansas Senator is hoping to get broadband internet to even the most rural parts of the state.

Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) recently sent a letter urging the Federal Trade Commission to move forward with the Remote Areas Fund, or RAF.

According to Senator Moran, the RAF would allow Americans in even the remote areas of the nation have access to reliable, affordable broadband internet.

"We urge you to move forward with the Remote Areas Fund (RAF) to appropriately target limited Universal Service Fund (USF) support towards the most difficult to serve areas in our states that remain unserved," Moran says in the letter.

Sen. Moran says it's important for the FCC to structure the RAF to reach the high-cost areas throughout rural America.
