WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) – member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense and Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Related Agencies – today released the following statement after being appointed to the House and Senate Conference Committee for H.R. 6157, which packages the Fiscal Year 2019 funding measures for Department of Defense; and Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies:

“Serving as a conferee for these appropriations bills presents a substantial opportunity to advance the priorities of Kansans on legislation that will directly affect our servicemembers and their families, healthcare professionals and patients, scientists and researchers, among many others. I am especially pleased to help prioritize funding for our Armed Forces and invest in modernizing the Department of Defense to face global challenges. I look forward to the Conference Committee’s work in the coming weeks and to getting this bill to the president’s desk for signature.”

Other members of the Conference Committee for H.R. 6157 include Senators Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.).
