Kansas Sen. Jerry Moran introduced a bill with bipartisan co-sponsors Thursday that they say would encourage job creation, spur entrepreneurial activity and advance economic development.

The "Startup Act" would encourage university research to become commercialized more quickly, leading to new ventures and improved regulatory processes. It would also create entrepreneur and STEM visas for highly educated people to remain in the United States to work on new ideas.

Co-sponsors are Sens. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.).
