ABILENE — U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) hosted a U.S. service academy interview and selection day at the Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene.

The interview day brings young Kansans from across the state to meet and interview with Moran’s Service Academy Selection Board, which reviews applications and interviews candidates who are applying for admission to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

“This day has always been a favorite of mine, as I get to meet some of the best and brightest young people in our state,” Moran said. “I’m always impressed by the caliber of every student that applies for the service academies and I know that each of these Kansans will go on to do great things for our country.”

The board will make recommendations to Moran to help with his decision when choosing his academy nominees. Applicants must also meet the individual admission requirements of each academy.
