WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) visited Emporia to hold a townhall meeting for area veterans ahead of the upcoming closure of the Emporia Department of Veterans Affairs community based outpatient clinic (CBOC). He was joined by VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System Director Rudy Klopfer.

“Saturday’s townhall meeting for Emporia-area veterans was an important step forward in making certain local veterans receive access to the healthcare they need, whether in the VA or in the community,” said Sen. Moran. “The discussion focused on Emporia-area veterans’ access to healthcare as the VA MISSION Act Community Care Program is implemented in June when the clinic closes. Thank you to the Emporia American Legion Post No. 5 for hosting the townhall and to the many local veterans for providing their important thoughts and feedback.”
