WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) – the ranking member of the Commerce Subcommittee on Aviation Safety, Operations and Innovation – today released the following statement expressing his support for the nomination of Mike Whitaker to be the Administrator for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA):

“I support Mr. Whitaker’s nomination and encourage my colleagues to do the same. The FAA is long overdue for a permanent, qualified administrator and this vacancy has had a ripple effect not just in aviation but across multiple sectors and industries.

“Mr. Whitaker has extensive experience working as the Deputy Administrator of the FAA, chief operating officer of an advanced air mobility company and as an employee for a major commercial airline. His knowledge of the many different facets of the aviation industry will help him be an effective and steady leader of the world’s busiest and most complex airspace system. I look forward to working with Mr. Whitaker to ensure the FAA has the resources necessary to keep Americans safe and guide us into the next era of aviation.”
