WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) today issued the following statement after the passing of longtime Kansas newspaper publisher, former Pulitzer Prize Board Chair and Manhattan native Ed Seaton:

“Ed Seaton lived a full life, dedicating himself to the advancement of democracy and freedom for the international press. He was a champion of local journalism and worked tirelessly to advocate for journalists on every level. Robba and I were privileged to know Ed personally, and he always treated us graciously. In particular, we valued his leadership of the Landon Lecture Series at Kansas State University. Robba also enjoyed the time they spent serving together at KSU.

“Ed leaves a lasting legacy of commitment to journalism, and I am grateful for his passion for making Kansas and the world a better place. I extend my sincere condolences to his son Ned, his daughter-in-law Angie and his grandchildren. Robba and I are praying for them during this difficult time.”
