WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (Kan.) today issued the following statement in response to the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC)’s decision to not impose duties on urea ammonium nitrate fertilizer from Trinidad and Tobago:

“Skyrocketing input costs and particularly record-high fertilizer prices are damaging Kansas farmers’ ability to grow a crop and earn a living. Earlier this year, I urged the International Trade Commission to reject the duties on fertilizers from key suppliers. This commonsense solution will help make certain farmers are able to find affordable fertilizer to grow their crops and feed the world.”

In March 2022, Sen. Moran joined Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) in urging the ITC to suspend the process to impose new duties on urea ammonium fertilizer from Trinidad and Tobago. Additionally, Sen. Moran urged the Biden administration and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo this summer to provide relief for farmers by not enacting new duties on nitrate fertilizer.
