News Releases

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) today spoke on the Senate floor regarding reports that the U.S. Departments of Justice, Homeland Security and Health and Human Services are considering a payout of up to $450,000 per person to families who crossed into the country illegally.

“This is an absurd policy decision and gives greater incentives for people to illegally come to the United States,” said Sen. Moran. “This is a situation that makes no sense, and it’s something that the Biden administration ought to immediately reject as out of bounds for common sense and good judgment. This proposal is damaging to the ability for us to have a lawful, sovereign border and for those who make the challenging trek, traveling through Central America and Mexico, to our southern border.”
